Good luck!

Q1: What goals or purposes would you most enjoy setting your energies to?

Q2: What knowledges that you already have in your head, do you most want to use in your life and work?

Q3: What skills that you already have,do you most love to use, never mind your skill level in each?

Q4: What are your preferred people-environments that you most like to work with?

Q5: What working conditions do you like best, because they enable you to do your most effective work?

Q6: What level of responsibility do you most enjoy working at, and at what salary?

Q7: What geographical factors are most important to you, and in what places do you think you would do your best work?

Color & column:

Travis: Good morning, Alan. How was your journey in?

Manager: Not bad, thanks. How’s that article coming along?

Travis: It’s all coming together really well. I hope you’ll enjoy it.

Travis:

Manager: How were the interviewees? That actress has a reputation for being difficult, doesn’t she?

Travis: Haha. Not at all. She’s had a tough time and I actually have a lot of respect for her.

Manager: How long do you expect the piece to be?

Travis: It’s about 1500 words just now. But I’m more than happy to edit it if you’d prefer.

Manager: Just let me see it when you’re finished. I’ll trim it down if necessary.

Travis: It’ll be good to have a fresh pair of eyes reading it. Thank you. Have a good morning.

Manager: Sharon, I’m hoping you might be able to help. Becky is experiencing some personal troubles and I’d like you to pick up some of her workload.

Sharon: Of course. How would you like me to help?

Sharon:

Manager: Becky’s client Mr. Smith needs somebody to look at his accounts. I was wondering if you could sit down with him?

Sharon: Certainly. I’ll make an appointment with him straight away. Is there anything else I can do to be helpful?

Manager: It would be good if you could keep an eye on Becky when she gets back. Make sure she’s OK. I know she trusts you.

Sharon: I’d be delighted. We’ve talked quite a lot over the past few weeks. And she really helped me out when my mum died.

Manager: Thanks, Sharon. It’s greatly appreciated.

Manager: Well, Bob. It looks like the web user figures are through the roof this week.

Bob: I thought the team could be a little more competitive to get more traffic to the site.

Bob:

Manager: How did you manage that?

Bob: We all take pride in our individual pages. So I challenged the other guys to drive more visits, by using clever SEO and finding cost-effective promotional options.

Manager: How did you get on personally?

Bob: Well, it was a very close race between me and Karen from Fashion. But I managed to get a great piece of free radio PR – and my viewer figures went up to their best ever level.

Manager: I’m impressed with your creativity and enthusiasm.

Bob: Thank you very much. I personally feel it’s good to have some healthy competition on the team.

Bob:

Manager: So how do you feel you’ve performed in your job this year?

Linda: I really feel I’m gaining in confidence, and I think that’s reflecting in my results. I’ve worked very hard to double my sales figures from last year and it has paid off.

Manager: What was your most satisfying moment?

Linda: There have been lots of great moments. But I’m especially proud that I managed to secure the contract with the tourism board, because it’s worth so much money and they’ve never worked with us before.

Manager: How do you feel your workload has been?

Linda: Of course I’ve been very busy. But I’m feeling really motivated and that makes things easier. I’ve spent all year looking for new challenges, and I’m hoping I’ll have even more next year.

Manager: Do you have any feedback for me?

Linda: I’m very keen to accept more responsibility if the opportunity comes up. I believe I’ve earned the trust of the team, and I’m sure I can keep balancing my workload well.

Manager:       How’s it going, Justin? Are you coping?

Justin:               Absolutely. It’s a lot of work but I’ve got it under control. It’s a really good challenge.

Manager:        When do you think you’ll get it finished?

Justin:                   I’m confident I’ll have it finished by the end of the week. But I’d be grateful if someone could take a look before I present it to the rest of the team.

Manager:            I’d be delighted. Could you get the document to me by Friday morning?

Justin:                   No problem. I’ll try to complete it by Thursday night.
Justin:

Manager:            It’s important that there aren’t any errors, as we’re presenting externally next week.

Justin:                  Don’t worry. I’m spell-checking everything as I progress, and I’m checking all facts with the regional teams.

Manager:            Thanks, Justin. I knew I could rely on you.

Justin:                   My pleasure.
Justin:

• Reading daily.

On the positive side...
One of the strengths of this is...
What I like about this is...
... is one of the strengths.
... is really great.
... is a big plus.

On the negative side...
Perhaps a weakness of this is that...
This is one of the things I'm not sure of, because...
...is one of the weaknesses.
...is something you might want to look at again.

On the positive side, I think it’s a really nice image and a nice layout, but on the negative side it is a bit confusing.

But actually,
On the other hand,
Then again,

I’m not sure I like the design, but actually I think the concept is very strong.

The photo’s great, but actually there’s nothing they can do with that, so it is just an image.
On the other hand, it is just an image.
Then again, it is just an image.

Are you free on Friday?
Are you busy on Friday?
What are you doing on Friday?

Would you like a chocolate bar?
Are you up for a cup of coffee?
Do you feel like leaving work early?

I'd love one.
I'd love to.
That'd be fun!
That sounds lovely!
OK, cool.

I'd love to but I'm really busy this weekend.
Ah, no.. sorry I've got to meet a friend.
Maybe another time?
Maybe next time?

Why don't/ Why doesn't…?

Why don't we have a meeting this afternoon?

Why doesn't he get the later flight, then he'll have more time here?

Why not…?

Why not do that tomorrow?

Shall we/ Shall I…?

Shall we have some chairs?

Let's…

Let's ask Carrie for help.

Yeah, let's do that.

…Should/ Could…

I think we should phone them. .

Perhaps we could put up some decorations in the office.

No, I don't agree.

No, that's not true.

No, I don't accept that…

No, I don't think that's what happened.

No, that's not a good idea.

That's nonsense!

That's rubbish!

That's complete nonsense!

That's absolute rubbish!

hang on!
hang on a minute!

等等!

Hang on! That's not what she did at all!

Although it's true to say that…

While it's fair to say that…

While I agree that…

Although it's true to say that he is intelligent, I don't think he works well in a team.

While I agree that we should leave soon, I think we should finish this work first.

I think (that)...

I think you should go now.

My view is (that)...

My view is that the project will fail.

In my opinion, ...

In my opinion, the firm can succeed.

I can assure you (that)...

I can assure you that we've done everything we can.

The fact is (that)...

The fact is, he's a great performer.

The point is (that)...

The point is, we don't know if they're being honest.

You're missing the point

You're missing the point - why do you never listen properly to what I'm saying?

Look, everyone thinks it's a bad idea.

We'd like to offer you a job.
I'm really pleased to tell you we've won a prize.
We've got some good news for you we will give you a promotion.
We've got a bit of good news for you you've passed your exams.

Wow!
哇!
Really?
Did you?! Are you?!

Congratulations!
Fantastic! 同义词=Brilliant! Great! Wonderful!
That's great news!
What splendid news!

Congratulations on …
I'm really pleased for you!
I'm really happy for you!
I'm really delighted to hear about…

Bye!
Good-bye!
See you!
再见!
See you tomorrow!

Have a nice weekend!
Have a lovely holiday!

Nice to see you.
Good to catch up.

Thanks very much for dinner - it was lovely!
Thank you for having me!

I'm really sorry, I've got to run!
I'm afraid I'm going to have to rush off!

I haven't seen you for ages!
Long time no see.

What've you been up to?
What are you up to?
What are you doing around here?

You look great!

Isn't it a lovely day!
It’s nice here!
Did you get here OK?

Good morning, Sir!
Good afternoon, Madam!
Good evening!

Morning!
Hey Harry!
Hi Harry!
Alright, Harry!
Alright, mate!

How are you?
How you doing?
How you going?
How's it going?
You alright?

Good, thanks!
Fine, thanks!
Not bad, not bad!
Alright, thanks!
I'm OK!

And you?
How about you?
What about you?

Can you finish it today?
No way! I have to work overtime today.
I have been doing a lot of overtime recently.

Do I get overtime pay?
How much is the overtime pay?
It's 1.5 times for workday overtime, and 2 times for weekends.

How about overtime meals, can we expense them?
Yes, submit the expense report by the end of the month.

Can I take some time off later?

Dear Mr. Potter,
Dear Harry,
Hi Harry,
To whom it may concern,

Thank you for your prompt reply.
Thanks for getting back to me.
Thank you for contacting our company.

I am writing to enquire about…
I am writing in reference to…

连接词如first、second、next、finally

Punctuality.

Gap reading.

Glittering prizes.

Continuum.

Slice and dice.

Insanely bad.

30 days.

Delegate.

Optimization.
